Friendship Book

My best friend lives so far away that I rarely see her, we do speak on the phone but that always makes me miss her more. She had asked me to make some family birthday cards for her and I decided that I'd make a little friendship book and pop that in with the cards when I posted them to her.
I made the book from some stiff cardboard packaging that I had kept. The covers are 6" square and the inside pages 5" square and I decorated them with lots of girly bits and bobs that I already had including flowers, gems, peel offs, rub ons, embellishments and stickers. She's very fond of cute images so I stamped a variety of cuties, (a couple of Magnolia Tildas, some Cuddly Buddlys and All Night Media's "Friends Forever"), now as soon as the book rings I've ordered arrive I can put it all together and post it to her.
I won't have to do my little books like this after October because I'm getting a "Bind-it-all" for my birthday (along with a Cuttlebug) hooray!

3rd Wedding Anniversary Card

It's my son and daughter-in-law's 3rd wedding anniversary on Monday. I just can't believe that three years have gone by so quickly, it really does seem like their wedding was only about a year ago, ah well I suppose that's a sure sign of my getting older!
I wanted to make them a card that had quite a young, modern feel to it so decided to go for a black, white and silver colour scheme.
The greyscale image is from the Greetings Card Factory CD (the shadow images actually do look a bit like them!) matted and layered and then simply mounted onto some monochromatic backing papers from my stash and finished off with a silver metal look sentiment and some peel offs for their names.
I suppose before I know it I'll be making a card for their fourth anniversary!

80th Birthday Card Commission

This was the second card for my friend. It is an 80th birthday card for her mum, who is only partially sighted, so I wanted the card to have some texture to it.
The beautiful fan is from Joanna Sheen's Fashion Boutique CD and is mounted onto some burgundy leather effect paper. The other half of the card is pink glitter card embossed with a cuttlebug and finished off with embellishments from my stash.
I owe a massive "thank you" to fellow Sheenie Jenny (Starcyl) who very kindly sent me a huge envelope full of different patterned and textured card she had embossed for me on her cuttlebug machine so that I could make this card more tactile. Thanks so much Jenny, hope you like the card.

40th Birthday Card Commission

Well, it feels like ages since I posted anything on either of my blogs. At long last I've started to feel a bit better and not a moment too soon. My best friend had asked me to make a couple of family cards for her ages ago, but it wasn't until yesterday that I felt up to making any cards, so the 40th birthday card was made yesterday and the 80th one today.
For some unknown reason my scanner will only recognise this card as being black and white. In actual fact it's pale pink glitter card with a silver miri card trim and silver peel offs, finished off with some pink, silver and clear adhesive gems.
Apologies for a terrible scanned image!

Golden Anniversary Cards

The second golden wedding card is made from black tapestry cardstock and the beautiful images used are from Joanna Sheen's Fashion Boutique CD (which I seem to use all the time as it's so gorgeous).
The main image I mounted onto black cardstock and then onto gold satin cardstock and completed it with some gold corner peel offs and a couple of tiny adhesive gems. I then mounted a piece of the matching backing paper onto some gold satin card and used this as a side panel. The whole card was finished off with some adhesive gems used in a row for the top corner and a couple of tiny gold peel offs.

Golden Anniversary Cards

I don't know what's been wrong with me, but I haven't felt like making any cards for about a week now even though I've got some commissions to make, but during a regular family chat last week, my family were invited to a get together for my uncle and aunt's golden wedding anniversary, so I got myself moving and made a couple of 50th anniversary cards for them (one will be from my mum and one from me). Hopefully this will have done the trick and got me back into the swing of card making again.
I wanted the cards to look quite special, so (with a little help from some friends on Joanna Sheen's forum) I made them as 8 x 8 cards and used some of Joanna Sheen's beautiful tapestry cardstock (one in white and one in black tapestry).
The first card was made from white tapestry cardstock and I mounted the cut off piece of A4 onto some black cardstock and popped it on the front to make a side panel. I wanted to use one of their wedding photos and mounted this together with their names onto some gold miri card for the side panel of the card (the little bridesmaid is me). I also embossed some gold satin card with the Glitter Girl's Majestic board to give a scalloped effect to this side panel, while for the main part of the card I printed a lovely verse onto some gold vellum. The whole card has been finished off with some gold border and corner peel offs, a large white daisy with a gold gem in the centre and last, but definitely not least, I've used some beautiful adhesive pearls on the corners of the card and the verse.

Get Well card

My daughter in law hasn't been well this week. She's never ill, so when she takes to her bed for days you know she's really poorly. She decided last week that she thought the Tilda stamps were cute, and she liked my "Tilda template challenge" card so much that she took it home with her, so I made her a "get well" card with my new stamp, as she hasn't seen this one before. I used similar colours to the other card as she had liked the denimy blue on that, let's just hope she likes this one! The wording reads "There's nothing wrong with me that chocolate can't fix".
